Egg Hunt in Wilder Park

Sat, Mar 31 - 10:00am

The Elmhurst Park District’s annual egg hunt is a popular spring event attracting more than 1,500 people to beautiful Wilder Park. And this year, District staff is hoping to improve attendee’s experience by making a number of changes that are a direct result of community feedback. In January, a community event survey was sent out and nearly 700 people responded.

One area of improvement is the parking situation surrounding Wilder Park. Parking is limited within the park itself so this year, the District has teamed up with Immaculate Conception, Elmhurst College and Hawthorne Grade School to offer overflow parking in those outlying lots. Local residents are also encouraged to walk to the park when possible.

A fourth age category has been added to help alleviate congestion and group similar ages together. Age categories are 1-2, 3-4, 5-7 and 8-10. A map of the egg hunt locations can be found at and on Facebook.

The largest age group, 5-7, is located in the main lawn area in front of the mansion and was a main source of many resident’s frustrations according to the community survey. In an effort to minimize congestion and allow kids an equal opportunity to hunt for eggs, parents will not be allowed within the hunt area.

Additional eggs have also been added so this year kids will be on the hunt for 10,000 eggs! Prize eggs have also been added in each category to add to the fun, and free Easter Bunny photos will be available beginning at 9:00 am. Families are encouraged to come early to get a photo before the hunt begins!

The egg hunt will begin at 10 a.m. sharp so attendees are encouraged to come early to ensure kids are in their designated hunt area when the event begins. Don’t forget a basket to hold your goodies!

The egg hunt will be followed by the Doggie Eggstravaganza at 10:30 a.m., when the fun goes to the dogs. Treat-filled eggs will be spread throughout the lawn in front of the mansion, and prizes will be awarded for best doggie costume so make sure to dress for the occasion.

The Elmhurst Park District egg hunt is presented by The Schiller Team, SBT - Suburban Bank & Trust and Healthy Driven Edward-Elmhurst Health.
