The Elmhurst Park District offers a host of trip options year-round, and the best part is that you can leave the driving to us. So gather up a group of friends, or fly solo and make some new ones and join us on our next adventure.
Refunds are made only if the space can be filled. If enrollment is low or if trips are cancelled, participants are notified and all money is refunded. All trips depart from Mary E. Kies Recreation Center (155 E. St. Charles Rd., Elmhurst), unless indicated otherwise. Please arrive a few minutes early to check in and receive any materials needed for the day. Staff reserves the right to change the type of bus used on the trips. Trip start times are bus departure times. Return times are approximate.

The Carole King Musical at Paramount Theatre - Wednesday, May 1, Noon-5:30 pm
Before she was the Carole King we know today, she was a young songwriter from Brooklyn trying to make a name for herself. Beautiful tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom as part of the hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin and going on to become one of the most successful singer, songwriter, and musicians in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation. Fee includes transportation and main floor seating. Ages 21 and up. Some Walking.

Buffalo, Bakeries & Bears - Oh My! - Thursday, June 13, 9 am-5:30 pm
Get ready for your very own rare encounter with North America’s largest native land mammal. You will literally be surrounded by a bison herd (from the safety of the tour wagon) and get a true sense of the awesome size, strength, and power of these remarkable animals. Lunch is at Suzie’s Café and will include tossed salad, rolls, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans. After lunch we’ll stop at the Albanese Confectionary which claims
to make the world’s best gummy bears, in addition to offering a variety of chocolate and nut treats. You’ll have time to shop before we head over to County Line Orchard for our last stop of the day. Stock up on your favorite baked goods before heading back home. Fee includes transportation, tour and wagon ride at Broken Wagon Bison, lunch, and gratuity at Suzie‘s Café. Any purchases at Albanese or County Line Orchard are on your own. Registration deadline is May 28. Ages 21 and up. Some Walking.
I & M Canal Tour - Wednesday, June 26, 9:30 am-4:30 pm
Step back into 1848 with a period-clothed, “salty” boat crew and friendly mule guiding you along the historic Illinois & Michigan Canal for an hour-long ride from Lock 14 to the Little Vermillion Aqueduct and back. Afterwards, enjoy a hearty Boat Captain’s Lunch in the I&M Canal Visitor Center. Lunch will include baked Tuscan chicken, spring pasta salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, and lemon bars. The Visitor Center is housed in a historic building and features additional information and exhibits about the I&M Canal. You’ll also have time to explore historic downtown LaSalle, which is right outside the door, after lunch. Fee includes transportation, tour and boat ride, lunch, and gratuity. Million Dollar Quartet - Thursday, July 25 ,12:30-5:30 pm
On December 4, 1956, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins gathered for one night to play music and make history. This Tony Award-nominated musical takes us inside one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll jam sessions ever recorded, with four legendary musicians doing what they loved most: expressing life’s joy and sadness through song. Described as “dazzling‚“ by New York Magazine and “wildly entertaining” by Hollywood Reporter, Million Dollar Quartet will have you rocking down memory lane with more than 20 chart-topping hits like “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Great Balls of Fire,’‘ “‘I Walk the Line” and “Who Do You Love.” Fee includes transportation and ticket to the show at the Metropolis Performing Arts Center in Arlington Heights. Fun on the Farm - Tuesday, August 20, 8:30 am-2:30 pm
Get ready for Fall Fun with a trip to Apple Holler. The day will start with a guided tour of the farm and orchard ona tractor-drawn wagon. You’ll learn how the farm grows their apples, pears, and peaches and about their earthfriendly growing practices. There will be an opportunity to pick either peaches or apples, depending on the growing season and what is ready for picking when we visit. You’ll then enjoy a delicious homemade lunch that includes a turkey gobbler sandwich, chips, and hot apple pie with ice cream for dessert. There will be time to visit the gift shop to pick up any additional fruit and goodies you might like. Fee includes tour guide, wagon ride, 1/4 peck bag of fresh picked fruit, lunch, and gratuity.
