Plans for the Plunkett Park playground project began in fall of 2016. Public feedback regarding the playground was solicited at that time through public forum and community surveys. Construction work began in late August 2017 and the playground reopened in late October 2017. A grand reopening and ribbon cutting was held on Saturday, November 4, 2017.

Plunkett Park playground work is rolling along! Safety surface installation began this week. Final preparations to the base were made and a low maintenance synthetic turf is now being rolled out!
The playground redevelopment at Plunkett Park is coming along with most of the equipment laid out and the freestanding Global Motion structure being installed this week.
Work on the redevelopment of Plunket Park playground is moving swiftly. Most of the concrete has been poured, which will allow for the installation of new picnic tables, and equipment installation has begun.
With school back in session, the Park District is beginning work on the redevelopment of Plunkett Park playground, which will receive new structures and play surfacing this fall.

At the Tuesday, January 17 Park Board Meeting, plans for the updating of Plunkett Park playground were approved.
