The Hub at Berens Park

The Hub is open for the 2020 season! Miniature Golf & Batting Cages require no reservation. Spray ground opens July 11 and time at the spray ground must be reserved. See below for new guidelines.

The Hub at Berens Park features four batting cages with varying speeds and settings for baseball and softball, an 18-hole miniature golf course, a 6,000 sq. ft. spray ground (water play area) and a fibar-surfaced playground with youth and tot equipment. The playground has 2 separate play structures for children ages 2-5 and 6-12. The Hub also features the Lee A. Daniels Pavilion, a 3,500 sq. ft. facility housing restrooms, concessions/storage and a party room available for rentals.

Check below for information regarding fees for miniature golf, the Spray Ground and batting cages. The Hub accepts cash, check, Visa, Mastercard and Discover.

Miniature Golf

The Hub has an 18-hole miniature golf course with a water feature and practice green. It features a prairie landscape, similar to the one early settlers of Illinois found in this area. While playing a round of mini-golf, be sure to check out the "mini" prairie around you! 

Phase 4 Guidelines:

  • Groups of 4 or less are permitted at one hole at one time.
  • As you play, do not move to the next hole until the group in front of you moves to the next hole.
  • Groups may not move to the next hole until all participants are completed, which includes your group and the group that is one hole ahead.
  • If there is a group already at the first hole when you arrive, please wait outside of the fence (indicated by the social distance markings) until that group moves onto the next hole.
  • All participants must abide by all social distance guidelines and be at least 6 feet from another person that does not live in their household.
  • All participants will be required to wear face coverings when social distancing requirements aren’t able to be met.
  • Frequent hand washing and using hand sanitizer is encouraged.
  • If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 including, but not limited to, cough, fever, or trouble breathing, or tested positive within the last 14 days, you will not be allowed to participate and should stay home.
  • Golfers should be at least 3 years of age and children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent/legal adult guardian.

  • $6 per person, Residents
  • $7 per person, Non-Residents

Spray Ground - Opening July 11

The Hub features a 6,000-square-foot spray ground with nine exciting water features and two Big Squirt filling stations. Big Squirts are refillable water toys that can be purchased at the equipment window. The spray ground will close if the temperature is below 65 degrees, lightning is spotted or there are other threatening weather conditions.

Phase 4 Guidelines:

  • No more than 30 people will be allowed in the spray ground at a time.
  • Fee is $6R/$8NR (Kids under 2 are free). Reservations must be made for each person, ages 2 and over, who will be at the spray ground.
  • After the two hour time slot, participants will be asked to leave so staff can disinfect the lounge chairs, features and touchpoints.
  • Payment is due at time of reservation. Pool passes will not be valid as they are either being rolled over to 2021 or refunded. Time blocks will be available for reservation 7 days in advance.
  • All participants will be required to wear face coverings when not engaged in swimming activities (per IDPH guidelines). Everyone age 2 and over must have a face covering on to enter and will need to wear their face covering if they are not on the blue pad of the spray ground (engaged in water activity).
  • All spray ground participants must abide by all social distance guidelines and be at least 6 feet from another person that doesn’t live in their household
  • Frequent hand washing and usage of hand sanitizer is encouraged
  • If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 including, but not limited to, cough, fever, or trouble breathing, or tested positive within the last 14 days, you will not be allowed to participate

Reminders

  • No shoes, sand, beach or water toys on pad.
  • Swim diapers only.
  • No food or drink in spray ground area. Do not drink spray ground water.
  • Children ages 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older.

Batting Cages

Hone your batting skills at any of our four cages with varying speeds. Baseball and softball settings are available. Beginners and professionals are welcome.

Phase 4 Guidelines:

  • All batters are encouraged to bring their own bats and helmets.
  • Bats and helmets will still be available for use from The Hub and will be disinfected after each use.
  • All tokens will be disinfected after each use.
  • Only the batter is permitted beyond this point. All spectators must wait outside the fenced in area.
  • All participants must abide by all social distance guidelines and be at least 6 feet from another person that does not live in their household.
  • All participants will be required to wear face coverings when social distancing requirements aren’t able to be met.
  • Frequent hand washing and using hand sanitizer is encouraged.
  • If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 including, but not limited to, cough, fever, or trouble breathing, or tested positive within the last 14 days, you will not be allowed to participate and should stay home.
  • Helmets and shoes are required during batting.
  • Batters must be at least 6 years old and children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent/legal adult guardian.

Fees: (10 pitches per token)

  • $1 per token
  • $5 for six tokens
  • $10 for 13 tokens
  • $20 for 27 tokens

Batting Cage Rentals

Berens Park offers batting cages for rent. This is a great way for teams to get in some extra practice.

Fees:

  • 1/2 Hour: $21
  • 1 Hour: $36

Reminders

  • Helmets with faceguard, softball and baseball bats are provided.
  • Batters must use helmets at all times.
  • Only one batter in the cage at a time.
  • Batters must wear shoes.
  • Batters must be at least 6 years old.
