History
Immaculate Conception High School used the land for an athletic field for many years before selling the property to the Park District in 1971 for $900,000. Development of the park began in 1974. Plunkett Park was named for the Rev. Msgr. William J. Plunkett, the well-known priest of Immaculate Conception Parish. The Courts, now Courts Plus, was developed and built within this park. Immaculate Conception High School still hosts its home football games on the field. Plunkett Park and the Courts Plus expansion were completed in the spring of 2002. Plunkett Park playground was redeveloped in 2017.
