The Elmhurst Park District has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report for 2023. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and this is the seventeenth consecutive year the Park District has been recognized.
The GFOA award is meant to encourage state and local governments to extract information from their annual comprehensive financial report in order to produce high quality popular annual financial reports specifically designed to be readily accessible and easily understandable to the general public and other interested parties without a background in public finance.
"Being financially responsible and transparent is a big part of how we serve our community," said Jim Rogers, Executive Director of the Elmhurst Park District.
"Receiving this recognition for 17 years in a row shows how seriously the Park Board and staff take that responsibility. With the community entrusting us with their tax dollars through the recent referendum, we’re committed to using those funds wisely and delivering the projects and services Elmhurst residents deserve."
