This past weekend, a number of athletes on the Elmhurst Park District’s Boys USAG team competed at the State Championship in Chicago. Six of the athletes qualified for the Regional Championship that will take place in Fort Wayne, Indiana the first weekend in April.
“We’re proud to see the boys’ team members back at Regionals this season. It was great as a Coach to see how excited they were to qualify,” said Coach Garrett Acker.
The athletes who qualified are:
Level 5: Charlie Brown
Level 6: Matthew Lind
Level 7: Sean Pugh, Dennis Sosnovyy
Level 9: Renny Barnitz
Level 10: Dominic Milazzo
Top finishes are as follows:
Level 5: Jae Newman 5th all around, Trevor Rice 3rd all around
Level 6: Matthew Lind 4th all around
The boys will compete against gymnasts in Region 5 from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio.
“The dedication and passion these young men have for this sport is incredible,” said Coach Nikko Winstead, “I couldn't ask for a better group of athletes. We're all really excited for regionals and we can't wait to show off what we got."
