With Wagner construction expected to begin this fall, Park District makes plans to temporarily move programs

Design development for the new Wagner Community Center is moving along at the Park District, but another key component of the project is also taking shape - where programs will move while construction takes place.

The majority of Elmhurst Park District voters approved a bond referendum in November 2024, which included the replacement of Wagner Community Center. The project is expected to start in fall 2025, with the new facility opening in fall 2027. During construction, programs and services currently held at Wagner Community Center will need to be relocated temporarily.

Many programs will move to existing Park District facilities beginning in fall 2025.

However, dance and gymnastics will move to a building located at 185 Industrial Drive, Elmhurst, just down the street from Mariano’s. During their Tuesday, May 27 meeting, the Park Board approved a lease agreement to rent the building and preparations are now underway to have the building ready to welcome Park District participants later this year.

More details about the relocation of programs will be included in the Park District's Fall Brochure, coming out Friday, July 18. Updates on referendum projects and progress can also be found at epd.org/referendum.
