What’s up in Wilder Park? The Greenhouse! In a matter of days construction crews framed-out the Greenhouse, installing the trusses and support posts and beams. The Greenhouse’s full size and shape is now evident as the structure has risen from its concrete foundation. As the Greenhouse goes up, the floor in the Conservatory goes down. Concrete contractors hand-tooled the cement to re-create the original floor’s pattern. Stamping the pattern into the cement was an option, but hand-tooling was selected in order to stay true to the restoration process and the result is a fitting tribute to the original 1923 look.

In other news the framing of the Conservatory was painted and a new concrete walkway was installed along the south side of the facility. The south walkway will provide access to the Conservatory from the gardens and wedding area. The plumbers were also hard at work installing the exterior drain lines, catch basins, and water supply lines. The temporary gravel road along the north side of the Conservatory was also removed, making way for a new north walkway and entrance.
