On Wednesday, September 23, the Elmhurst Park District Board of Park Commissioners approved design and concept plans for the Butterfield Park renovation, which include the Playground for Everyone, an inclusive playground for children of all abilities to socialize.
The new playground will feature safe, state-of-the-art, sensory-rich structures that encourage play for children with developmental disabilities such as autism, Down Syndrome and cerebral palsy as well as children with mobility challenges.
Construction on Butterfield Park and the Playground for Everyone will begin spring/summer of 2016 with a planned opening for fall 2016.
