The redevelopment of Pioneer Park is moving along, with the Park Board approving construction of the park’s playground and safety surfacing at their February 12, 2024 board meeting. The plan will bring a new playground, paths, basketball court, site furnishings and updated landscaping to the neighborhood.
The park will be redesigned to maximize space and incorporate mature trees into the play area. New, unique features will include a cubed, cozy imaginative play structure for 2-5 year-olds and a multilevel climber, the Tidal Wave, for older kids.
The Park District replaces or upgrades a playground every year. Pioneer Park’s playground was determined to be best suited for replacement this year due to age, wear, repeated vandalism, and the high frequency of use the equipment receives.
Construction at Pioneer Park will begin in mid-June and is slated for completion by the end of August 2024. View the Master Plan on the Project Page.
