Elmhurst Garden Club donates $4,000 from Walk & Faire

At the Tuesday, October 10 meeting of the Elmhurst Park District Board of Park Commissioners, members of the Elmhurst Garden Club presented a check to the District for $4,000, raised during the annual Garden Walk and Faire.

Penny O’Neill, Garden Walk & Faire Committee Chair, thanked the District for their assistance and continued support.

“We can’t hold the Garden Walk without the Park District’s help,” O’Neill said, “It’s a great collaboration, and staff is such an integral part in making this event happen.”

Park Board Commissioner Carolyn Ubriaco highlighted the partnership between the two organizations saying, “The impact is so substantial. Why have parks if you can’t show them off, if they’re not working for the people and bringing people together, and that’s what you have done for us.”

The donation will be used for the Recreation Assistance program, which allows disadvantaged Elmhurst families to participate in recreational programs. The District is grateful for the positive relationship it shares with the Elmhurst Garden Club and looks forward to the continued success of the group and its events.
