At the Monday, October 24 Park Board Meeting, the Elmhurst Garden Club presented a check for $5,000 to the Park District. The money was raised during the club’s annual Garden Walk & Faire, held in July. The event raised more than $20,000 this year, with the proceeds going to scholarships and many other community projects.
“The Garden Club works extremely hard. The event is a gift to the community, and it’s great that they raise the money they do,” said Commissioner Carolyn Ubriaco.
The Garden Club’s donation will be used for the Park District’s Recreation Assistance Program, which allows disadvantaged Elmhurst families to participate in recreational programs. The club was pleased to present their donation to the Park District in-person for the first time since 2019. The Park District and club continue to maintain a positive partnership.
“The Park District is good to work with but also fun to work with, which makes the whole process pleasant! We appreciate you!” remarked Georgia Dolan, Garden Walk & Faire Committee Chair.
