Elmhurst Park District makes plans for a rebranding, including new logo

Elmhurst Park District is at the beginning of an exciting rebranding initiative aimed at better reflecting the vibrant community it serves. As part of this process, the Park District will develop a new logo and visual identity which will be guided by valuable input from the community.

While the current logo, introduced in 1999, has served the Park District well for the past 25 years, it no longer fully captures the energy and culture of Elmhurst today. With a 105-year legacy, the Park District recognizes the importance of honoring the past while evolving to stay relevant and connected to all residents of all ages.

The rebranding is about more than just a new logo. It reflects how people feel when they see a name, visit a park, attend a program, or speak with someone from the Park District staff. It is part of the story we tell about who we are and what we stand for in the community.

The rebranding will provide the Park District with a fresh, authentic identity that will enhance how it communicates its values and services and ensure a consistent look and feel across all the Park District’s platforms. From signage and brochures to the website and social media.

To lead this project, the Park District issued a formal request for proposals (RFP) earlier this year. Nearly 60 firms requested the RFP and 30 firms submitted proposals. After evaluating proposals based on a number of criteria and conducting interviews, the Park District selected Destination by Design as the firm best suited to guide the process.

Known for their successful rebranding work with park districts and municipalities, Destination by Design stood out for their collaborative process, creative vision, and commitment to community engagement. Their multi-phase process includes input from stakeholders across the community—including residents.

The Park District looks forward to sharing opportunities for community participation in this process in the coming months. Stay tuned for updates and ways to get involved in shaping a new visual identity that will resonate with Elmhurst residents for generations to come.
