Region 8 moves to Tier 2 of resurgence mitigation

As cases of COVID-19 continue to increase throughout the State of Illinois, Governor Pritzker announced today that DuPage County (Region 8) will move to Tier 2 of the resurgence mitigation beginning Wednesday, November 11. Program participants, facility renters, and fitness members will see a number of changes to Park District offerings due to these new measures.

  • Meetings, social events and gatherings (baby showers, weddings, etc.) are reduced to 10 people. This includes private and park district events at Wilder Mansion, Sugar Creek Golf Course, and other District facilities. Individual participants who are affected by the new mitigations will be contacted by staff.
  • Organized group recreational activities and gym capacities are reduced to 25 people or 25% of capacity (whichever is less) for both indoor and outdoor activities. Groups can be no larger than 10. Staff will communicate directly with program participants if these new measures will have an impact.
  • Fitness centers may continue to operate at 50% of capacity, however, Courts Plus will now require all members to wear masks at all times, including while working out.
  • Sports groups, whether indoors or outdoors, are limited to 10 or fewer. Overall capacity is limited to the lesser of 25 guests or 25% of overall room capacity both indoors and outdoors. There may be multiple groups of 10 as long as they are at least 30 feet apart. Groups may not comingle, interchange or interact with one another.

The Illinois Department of Public Health will continue to track the positivity rate in our region and if the metrics don’t improve more stringent mitigations may be applied to further reduce spread of the virus, which could include further reducing capacity on organized group recreation, fitness or other activities  as well as the temporary suspension of certain activities.
