Salt Creek Greenway Trail expected to be complete by early July

Progress on the Salt Creek Greenway Trail connector continues. This week, permanent sheet piling is being installed. The project should be substantially complete by mid-June, with a final completion closer to July 1.

The Elmhurst Park District’s 2019 capital budget included funds for completing the engineering, design, and construction of a 740 ft. long by 6 ft. wide asphalt trail connection in proximity to Brush Hill Road south of Butterfield Road. The current alignment at this location had trail users on the shoulder of the road and traveling against the flow of traffic.

“This project will provide a less hazardous bike route for all trail users,” said Director of Facilities Angela Ferrentino.

The project is partially funded through an Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) grant of $363,200.
