Air Quality Alert - Program and facility updates

  • Updates

6-29-23 - 6:30 am UPDATE: Outdoor facilities and programs will open as usual today in the hope that the air quality number continues to drop. Staff will monitor levels throughout the day and may adjust as needed out of caution for our participants and staff who are outside. As a reminder, you can download the rainout hotline app to receive alerts. https://www.epd.org/rainout-line-weather-cancellations

6-28-23 - 1:00 pm UPDATE: Staff has continued to monitor air quality changes throughout the day in the hopes it would improve. Recently however, numbers have risen and conditions have become worse. In addition, attendance at outdoor facilities has been extremely light. As a result, the park district will be closing the outdoor pools and The Hub for the remainder of the day. Outdoor programs and activities are also cancelled.

6-27-2023 UPDATE: This afternoon the air quality in Elmhurst has reached the “very unhealthy” level, according to Air Now, an affiliate of the United States EPA and CDC. Please be advised that along with a number of other area park districts, effective immediately the Elmhurst Park District is bringing camps indoors; closing outdoor pools, The Hub and its amenities, and Sugar Creek Golf Course; and cancelling outdoor programs and activities for the remainder of the day due to these air quality issues. People with heart or lung disease, older adults, children and teens should avoid physical activities outdoors. Everyone else should avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
