The Courts Plus swimming pool and Elmhurst Park District lifeguard staff received top honors with a 5-star score, the highest a facility can receive, on a recent audit conducted by the Starfish Aquatics Institute during family open swim time.
The lifeguards demonstrated water rescue and first aid scenarios and scored above standards for their skills in both categories, while the facility itself was evaluated for cleanliness, signage and accuracy of paperwork.
Elmhurst Park District outdoor pools also recently received 5-star audits for East End and Norman P. Smalley pools.
“Maintaining the highest quality lifeguards, and providing a safe, fun environment is of the utmost importance to the Elmhurst Park District,” said Executive Director Jim Rogers. “We’re proud of the work our aquatics staff puts in to provide great experiences for the community.”
Lifeguards are trained using the Starfish Aquatics Institute StarGuard program, which teaches behaviors and skills to help lifeguards reduce risk and be at their best and ready to take action in the event of an emergency.
Family Open Swim is held at Courts Plus Sundays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. until April 22. The Elmhurst Park District is currently hiring lifeguards for its summer 2018 season. To apply and view positions, click here.
