With the help of volunteers and in cooperation with the Park District, Troop 9117 Eagle Scout candidate, Joanna Clohessy, recently helped revitalize Kiwanis Park with the construction of new park benches.
Joanna was interested in doing volunteer work for the District because she has participated in activities at the District since she was a young child and often spends time at the parks, including Kiwanis Park.
She reached out to the District earlier this year and the idea for the park benches was formed. She was responsible for fundraising for the project and brought together several volunteers to construct the benches this fall, replacing three deteriorating benches and building a new one.
