The Elmhurst Garden Club presented a donation check of $5000 to Elmhurst Park District at the Monday, October 23 Park Board Meeting. The money was raised at the club's annual Garden Walk & Faire, which took place in July. The event highlights private and public gardens in the community and includes a boutique and plant sale in Wilder Park. Proceeds from the event go to scholarships as well as many other community projects.

Elmhurst Garden Club Garden Walk & Faire Committee Chair, Georgia Dolan, spoke on behalf of the club. She emphasized the collaborative relationship between the club and the Park District during the Garden Faire.

"You're a part of our organization and we hope we're a part of yours. We couldn't do it without you."

The Park District and Garden Club partner on various projects. Beyond the Garden Faire, the club also helps maintain the Herb Garden in the Wilder Park Formal Wedding Gardens.

"It's always a great partnership and it’s always welcome to see you," said Park Board President, Kevin Graf.

The Park District will use the generous donation to fund its Recreation Assistance Program, which allows disadvantaged Elmhurst families to participate in recreational programs.
