New community event is direct result of community feedback

Elmhurst Park District’s Vision 2020 project helped to shape the future of park and recreation services in Elmhurst as a direct result of community feedback obtained in 2016 and 2017. Since that time, Elmhurst Park District staff have put a plan in place to prioritize the initiatives the community desires. One of the things that came out of a community-wide survey was a desire for more community events for adults.

Staff has listened and this year will be hosting a new adult event called “Bags, Brew & BBQ” on Saturday, July 27 from 6-9:00 p.m. in front of Wilder Mansion.

“Community events are incredibly well attended in this town so we knew the bar was set high,” said Director of Marketing and Communications Kari Felkamp, “We wanted to create a fun event that would allow groups of friends to be interactive and maybe even a little competitive. And that’s how Bags, Brew & BBQ came about!”

Bags, Brew & BBQ is an adult game night that will include bags, bocce, giant games like Jenga and Kerplunk, and inflatable games like foot darts and connect three basketball. Attendees can grab an adult beverage, enjoy menu offerings from a variety of food trucks, participate in a variety of games, or just mingle with friends while enjoying some music in front of Wilder Mansion. Admission is free, and the event is open to ages 21 and up.
