Elmhurst Board of Park Commissioners and Park District staff marked the kickoff of two referendum projects on October 17, celebrating with groundbreakings at the Prairie Path and Crestview Park, where park visitors can soon look forward to permanent heated restrooms. Both restroom buildings were made possible by the successful passage of the November 2024 Referendum.
The Prairie Path restroom will be located near the gazebo at Spring Road. Its location was selected based on community feedback, as well as site topography and utility availability. With a central location, the site will serve as a convenient stopping point for trail users.
The restroom at Crestview Park will be located just north of the existing basketball courts. Alongside restroom construction, the Park District is also implementing Phase 1 of redevelopment at the park based on a Master Plan approved by the Park Board in 2025. These updates include a new picnic area, walking paths, a shelter and a redeveloped playground.
The Park District is pleased to be working on these projects with Dewberry Architects and V3 Engineering.
Both restrooms are expected to be completed by early next year. To keep up with all the Park District referendum projects, please visit epd.org/referendum.
