November 2026 Update - As part of the Prairie Path permanent restroom project currently underway, a portion of the Prairie Path is being paved near the restroom building.
On Monday, November 9 the crew will frame and pour the section of concrete path between Pioneer Park and Spring Road. Detour signs will be placed east of the paving addition near Pioneer Park and west of the improvement directing trail users to detour to the sidewalk south of the Prairie Path.
The detour will remain in place from November 9-11, with the intention of ensuring work is completed before the weekend when the path is most busy.
Necessary updates will be posted to the Park District website and social media.
This biking and walking trail is named for its rare segments of original, thousand-year-old prairies, one of which - the Keith A. Olson Prairie - is right here in Elmhurst. With 62 total miles of biking, hiking, jogging, equestrian and nature trails, approximately five miles of the lush, beautiful Prairie Path runs through Elmhurst.
