Three Elmhurst Park District staff members were recognized this month for their contributions to the field during the Midwest Institute of Park Executives (MIPE) Annual Awards Luncheon. Dan Payne, Assistant Director/Director of Parks, was awarded Professional of the Year. Payne also just completed his term as MIPE President, the culmination of nearly twenty years of MIPE involvement, including seven years of service on the MIPE Board.
“The Midwest Institute of Park Executives (MIPE) is a fantastic professional organization that has been around for nearly 87 years. MIPE provides monthly education and training opportunities for park professionals,” says Payne. “I am very proud to have served on the MIPE board and recognize the positive impact the organization has on the parks and recreation field.”
The event also acknowledged Scott Dohnal, Facilities Specialist III, who received the Outstanding Park Employee Award. He was nominated by his co-workers for his work on designing and building the new decorative arbors in the Wilder Park Formal Gardens.
Parks Supervisor Steven Paterkiewicz received the Marvin Wolf Continuing Education Scholarship, which will be used for a training program later this year.
