Be a Kid Again Fundraiser a Big Success!

On February 20, 2016 the People for Elmhurst Parks Foundation held a “Be a Kid Again” FUNdraiser to raise money for the soon-to-be-built Playground for Everyone at Butterfield Park, scheduled to be constructed this summer. The event was held on the indoor tennis courts at Courts Plus which were transformed for the evening to an indoor park and playground for grown-ups.

Featured were pieces of the actual accessible playground equipment that will be installed in the playground, fun activities that made the grown-ups feel like kids again, as well as a live and silent auction.

Over 120 people were in attendance and the Foundation raised over $16,000. To date, the Foundation has received donations of $150,000 toward its goal of $250,000. The playground will cost nearly $600,000, with $350,000 being covered by the Elmhurst Park District capital fund and the remaining $250,000 funded by community donations. The Foundation has received support from many community partners including the Elmhurst Children’s Assistance Foundation, Kiwanis Club of Elmhurst, Kick-Off for Kids, Elmhurst Jaycees, Elmhurst Lions Club, and the Andi-Stelzner Fund of the DuPage Foundation in addition to significant support from individuals.
