Conrad Fischer Park Project

Community comes out to celebrate redeveloped Conrad Fischer Park

Elmhurst Park District Board of Commissioners ribbon cutting Conrad Fischer Park

The community enjoyed a beautiful evening at Conrad Fischer Park, as they celebrated the ribbon cutting and reopening of the newly redeveloped playground with the Park Board. Board President Vince Spaeth noted the terrific turnout at the ribbon cutting and thanked residents for the tremendous amount of input on the new park renovations.

The playground will surely become a favorite neighborhood spot. It features new equipment geared to the 2-5 age group, additional seating and a new unitary surfacing.

Redeveloped sports courts at Conrad Fischer Park now open

The redevelopment of the sports courts at Conrad Fischer park is completed! Last resurfaced in 2005, the courts were also repainted and restriped to provide several sport opportunities. Park goers now have three options for fun: tennis, basketball and futsal!

After gathering community input, staff determined that converting the two existing tennis courts and one roller hockey court to one tennis court, one futsal court and two half basketball courts would provide more recreational opportunities for the neighborhood.

Redevelopment work at Conrad Fischer Park begins

With school out of session, the Park District is beginning work on the redevelopment of Conrad Fischer Park playground, which will receive new structures and play surfacing this summer. On June 4, the old playground structures were removed by Kids Around the World, a non-profit agency that repurposes playgrounds and rebuilds them in developing countries. Elmhurst Park District has worked with them previously to repurpose playground equipment from several parks, including most recently at Plunkett Park.

Conrad Fischer Park Projects Approved, Construction to Begin in June

Plans for the redevelopment of Conrad Fischer Park playground moved forward at the Monday, February 26 Park Board meeting, with the Board approving the Playground Redevelopment Project and Safety Surfacing Project. The playground plan includes replacing the existing playground with new equipment which allows for more climbing opportunities, providing additional seating, replacing the wood chips with a new unitary surface and constructing a barrier around the playground. Modern, green and blue equipment will be installed and be designed for the 2-5 age group.
