Park Board President releases statement regarding registration issues

The Park Board and staff share in the frustration many experienced during Saturday’s registration. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience it caused residents.

We were hopeful that the virtual waiting room that the District’s software vendor, Vermont Systems Inc., implemented would be a temporary solution for the first day of registration, and it did work well for gymnastics registration on July 30. However, on Saturday, August 6, VSI once again dropped the ball when we discovered that their staff mismanaged the virtual waiting room and allowed the system to get backed up, which just created the same problem it was intended to fix.

Due to the past issues with VSI, the Park Board and staff have made it a top priority to address the issues and have actively engaged an outside IT consultant to select a new vendor that will be capable of meeting the community’s needs. Unfortunately that is a lengthy process and can take up to 18 months to fully switch over. We are expediting that effort, but until we’re able to switch vendors, we will be looking at alternatives for the first day of registration. Staff will communicate with residents when an alternative has been decided upon.
