For the past two months, staff at the Elmhurst Park District has been planning for the expansion of programming in spring and summer. The District’s virtual brochure went live on February 19 and resident registration for programs took place this past Saturday. In what was reminiscent of pre-COVID days, within minutes of the 8:00 a.m. registration, many classes were full with wait lists.

Registration will open Saturday, February 27 at 8 a.m. for residents and Tuesday, March 2 at 8 a.m. for non-residents.

Our play-based, developmentally appropriate program is respectful of social, cultural, and linguistic diversity. We prepare preschoolers for elementary school and beyond by incorporating activities that promote social-emotional, physical, language and cognitive development.
Recently, Governor Pritzker announced that Tier 3 mitigations will go through Saturday, January 9. As a result, programs scheduled to begin on January 4 will be postponed or will be held virtually. Participants will be contacted directly regarding the status of their program.
Registration for Club Ed., a self-directed E-Learning program, opens today at 9 a.m. Registration will be open through September 15. Sign-up for this program on our registration page. If you do not currently have a household account, please be sure to create one prior to registration.

Staggering the dates of registration, based on feedback from the community, has improved the registration software’s performance and the District intends to continue with the software through 2020, as long as this performance continues.
With this in mind, program registration for Gymnastics will begin Saturday July 27 at 8 a.m. General Registration and Courts Plus Registration will occur the following week on Saturday, August 3 at 8 a.m.

A survey was recently conducted to gauge the best day and time for gymnastics registration. Overwhelmingly, residents chose Saturday, December 1 at 8:00 a.m. Registration for general programs will then be held on Saturday, December 8 at 8:00 a.m.

It’s no secret that two of the last three registrations have been frustrating and difficult for residents. Therefore, staff will be making changes to the first day of registration beginning with winter registration in December.
The Elmhurst Park District Board and staff share the frustration felt by residents on Saturday and we sincerely apologize that once again it took an unacceptable amount of time for some to register for programs. We were hopeful that we had found a solution that would work for our residents and were disheartened that that was not the case.
It was smooth sailing for participants signing up for summer programs during resident registration on Saturday, May 5. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case during the spring registration on Saturday, February 24, when the District’s registration software failed to meet the needs of the residents, resulting in delayed registrations and a lot of frustration.
