Park District selects IT consultant to assist with reviewing registration software vendors

In June, the Park District made the decision to hire an outside IT consultant to assist with reviewing and selecting a high performing registration software. After reviewing submitted proposals, the District has concluded that Noventech, Inc., a firm based out of Lombard, Illinois, is best suited to meet the District’s needs. Noventech’s experience working with small and medium-sized businesses and, most importantly, their familiarity with registration software systems utilized in the park district industry, were important determining factors in the decision.

Park District to hire IT consultant and begin search for new registration software

With the goal of improving the experience of signing up for programs, the Park District is planning to contract with an outside IT consultant to assist in the process of reviewing and selecting a registration software that properly meets the community’s needs. The Park Board provided consensus for the plan at their Monday, June 27 meeting. The yet-to-be-chosen consultant is anticipated to begin working with the Park District in July, with the goal of making a recommendation by September of this year.

Summer Registration changes include Virtual Waiting Room, expanded Registration dates

With the release of the Summer Brochure, Elmhurst Park District is looking toward the upcoming Summer Registration dates with the intention of ensuring users have a positive experience. The Park District understands many users were frustrated during registration this spring, and the Board and staff are being proactive in making changes. These changes include separating out gymnastics registration to reduce the high volume of traffic on the Park District’s registration software, and implementing a new virtual waiting room feature.

Elmhurst Park District’s spring registration shows sure signs of readiness to return to programs

For the past two months, staff at the Elmhurst Park District has been planning for the expansion of programming in spring and summer. The District’s virtual brochure went live on February 19 and resident registration for programs took place this past Saturday. In what was reminiscent of pre-COVID days, within minutes of the 8:00 a.m. registration, many classes were full with wait lists.

Elmhurst Park District is busy preparing the Spring Brochure and is looking forward to the upcoming season.

Just as in past years, it will help you plan your summer too, with summer camps, aquatics programs and pool passes included in the brochure.

 As a result of issues with the Elmhurst Park District’s registration software, the District made changes to the first day of registration process beginning with winter registration. Those changes included hosting gymnastics registration on a separate day and time in an effort to alleviate the burden on the software system. That registration took place this past weekend and went smoothly.

As a result of issues with the Elmhurst Park District’s registration software, the District has made changes to the first day of registration process beginning with winter registration this Saturday. Those changes include hosting gymnastics registration on a separate day and time in an effort to alleviate the burden on the software system.

Park District staff makes changes to winter registration

Residents can expect to see changes to the first day of registration for Elmhurst Park District programs beginning with the winter season. Based on feedback from residents, the decision was made to hold gymnastics registration on a separate day and time in an effort to reduce the high volume on the District’s current software system.

A survey was recently conducted to gauge the best day and time for gymnastics registration. Overwhelmingly, residents chose Saturday, December 1 at 8:00 a.m. Registration for general programs will then be held on Saturday, December 8 at 8:00 a.m.

It’s no secret that two of the last three registrations have been frustrating and difficult for residents. Therefore, staff will be making changes to the first day of registration beginning with winter registration in December.  

District Board and staff seek new solutions to software issue

The Elmhurst Park District Board and staff share the frustration felt by residents on Saturday and we sincerely apologize that once again it took an unacceptable amount of time for some to register for programs. We were hopeful that we had found a solution that would work for our residents and were disheartened that that was not the case.

Park District moves to hosted solution ahead of fall registration

It was smooth sailing for participants signing up for summer programs during resident registration on Saturday, May 5. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case during the spring registration on Saturday, February 24, when the District’s registration software failed to meet the needs of the residents, resulting in delayed registrations and a lot of frustration.

Park District continues to address registration software issues

At the March 12, 2018 Park Board meeting, Park District staff and the Board’s ad hoc IT committee provided updates regarding the District’s registration software, RecTrac from Vermont Systems, Inc. (VSI). The software ran at an unacceptably slow rate of speed during registration on February 24, 2018, causing concern amongst residents trying to sign up for programs.
