Playgrounds reopening!

As new guidance came to light late Friday afternoon, Elmhurst Park District staff has now thoroughly reviewed the guidelines in order to develop and post appropriate signage and is excited to announce that playgrounds will reopen today! Staff has begun removing tape and adding signage with all playgrounds expected to be open by the end of the day.

Throughout the statewide shut down, staff continued their monthly playground inspections. However, it’s important to note that as recommended by the CDC (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/parks-rec/park-admi…), the Park District does not disinfect outdoor equipment or frequently touched outdoor surfaces, so please play at your own risk.

Also, per the new order, gatherings will be limited to 50 people, social distancing is required and people who are sick or symptomatic are asked not to play on the playgrounds. Masks are also encouraged while in the presence of others.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE: Outdoor drinking fountains will remain closed.

Play safe, Elmhurst!
